Who Can Vote

Under provisions of the constitutions of both the United States and Pennsylvania, every person 18 years of age (on or before the day after an election) or older is eligible to vote providing he or she has been a citizen of the United States at least 30 days preceding the election. Under state law, college students are permitted to vote in the locality where the college or university is located.

Registering to Vote

Permanent registration is required in Pennsylvania for all eligible voters except members of the armed forces and bedridden or hospitalized veterans. All qualified electors must register up to 30 days immediately prior to an election. (A voter who moves from one district to another in Pennsylvania within 30 days of an election can vote in the district from which he moved).

You may register at the Voter Registration office located to the left as you enter the Government Center at 2nd and Orange Streets in Media any Monday thru Friday between 8:30am and 4:30 pm, except holidays.

Mail Registration is possible through cards which can be obtained at various public offices (Township Buildings and Libraries), party committees, state stores and post offices. Anyone having difficulty in locating cards should contact the registration office at (610) 891-4659. All cards not properly filled out will be rejected and the applicant will be notified by mail, with reason for the rejection listed. The card should be filled out and sent to the county (county board of elections) and within three days of receipt the board will send to the applicant (by non-forwardable mail) the notification stub which appears at the top of the application. If the stub is not received within 10 days, the applicant should notify the registration office. If application is approved, the applicant will be sent a wallet-sized voter I.D. card by first class non-forwardable mail.
