About the Park

Drexel Lodge Park was acquired from Drexel University and was the former home of the football team summer training camp. With the elimination of the program the land was acquired as part of the Newtown Square Corporate Campus project.


The property is the largest public open space on West Chester Pike and along with the general enjoyment of township residents is available for events such as:

  • Birthday parties
  • Company picnics
  • Family and school reunions
  • Graduations
  • Picnics
  • Scouting events
  • Weddings

  • 2 large playing fields
  • 2 ponds with fountains
  • Bathroom facilities
  • Historic train museum (home of the Newtown Square Pennsylvania Railroad Museum)
  • Large covered pavilion that can hold up to 200 people

  • Open air amphitheater
  • Railroad-themed playground for children to use
  • Walking bridge at the ponds

Local Sports Organizations

Many of the local sports organizations including the Township soccer and lacrosse teams utilize the extensive playing fields.
