Newtown residents are also invited to electronics recycling events being held in Aston. The events will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2017, Saturday, April 1st, 2017 and Saturday, May 6th, 2017 between 9:00 am—1:00 pm at COMMONWEALTH COMPUTER RECYCLING, 1 Judy Way, Aston, Pa 19014. Note that there are costs associated with these events in Aston. Please see the 2017 Aston Spring Event flyer for additional information.
Remember too that STAPLES and BEST BUY both offer limited free technology recycling. To learn more, visit their web sites, look under “services” and click on either “recycle your old products” (BEST BUY) or “recycling and eco services” (STAPLES). Other similar items may be recycled at Home Depot and Lowes. Exact items that can be recycled can vary from location to location, although they are usually for items such as wires, light bulbs, etc. We encourage residents to investigate all of these opportunities.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events
Household Hazardous Waste Collections are scheduled to be held between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on 4 dates throughout Delaware County. Please see the attached 2017 HHW Flyer for dates, locations and additional information.
Spring Branch and Tree Limb Collection
Newtown Township’s Public Works Department is pleased to make available to our residents the opportunity to properly dispose of tree limbs and branches. Public Works staff will collect tree limbs and branches from your property during the month of May. Branches and tree limbs need to be cut into lengths no longer than 4’ and be smaller than 4” in diameter. They must be stacked neatly at the curb with cut ends facing the street. Leaves, grass clippings and brush will not be accepted.
The Public Works Department will handle the labor and cost for the proper disposal of these limbs and branches. There is no cost to residents for this pick up. However, this service is for residents only, and is not open to landscapers or to businesses.
To take advantage of this pick up opportunity in May, please fill in and submit the attached Spring Cleanup Request Form.
In the past few years, a weekday “drop off” of branches and tree limbs was also offered. This will be offered again this year. However, details of the exact drop-off location have not yet been finalized due to anticipated construction work taking place in the Public Works yards at the time. That information will be posted here once determined.

Newtown Township has available compost for any resident of Newtown Township. The compost, made from the leaves which are collected in the township in Autumn, is free for any of our residents. A compost pile is maintained at Brookside Park, and residents may take what they need.
As of May, 2017 deliveries of compost by Public Works have been suspended, as our supply of compost has become limited. Information on supplies of compost available for pick up at the Delaware County Composting Farm is available here: Delaware County Composting Farm (PDF)
As always, feel free to visit the Public Works page for additional recycling and related information.
