In light of the storms that came through our area recently and the resulting tree limbs and branches that fell, Newtown Township’s Public Works Department has decided to hold another collection event during the remainder of the month of June as well as through the end of July. While the tree limb and branch drop off opportunity (described below) already was scheduled to continue until September 30th, Public Works will also collect items directly from your property.
2017 Residential Tree Limb and Branch Collection / Drop Off
- Newtown Township’s Public Works Department is pleased to make available to our residents the opportunity to properly dispose of tree limbs and branches. Public Works staff will collect tree limbs and branches from your property during the months of June and July.
- Thanks to the purchase of a new wood chipper this year, branches and tree limbs can now be a large as 6” in diameter. They must be cut into lengths no longer than 4’ and stacked neatly at the curb with cut ends facing the street. Leaves, grass clippings, brush and branches with a diameter larger than 6” will not be accepted.
- Public Works will handle the proper disposal of these limbs and branches. There is no cost to residents for this pick up. However, this service is for residents only, and is not available to landscaping companies or to business properties.
To take advantage of this pick up opportunity in June and July, please fill in and submit the attached Summer Storm Cleanup Request Form .
In the past few years, a weekday “drop off” of branches and tree limbs was also offered. This is currently being offered again this year. However, due to construction work taking place in the Public Works yards a smaller drop off area is currently in use behind the Public Works garages. Again, leaves, grass clippings, brush and branches with a diameter larger than 6” will not be accepted.
